Lesson 10 🦸🏻♀️
be wary of the false hero

My dear,
You ever been screwed over?
Me too.
…by someone you thought was coming to help you?
Yeah, me too.
The betrayal is crushing.

oh, the familiar feeling of a betrayal on the horizon.
how do we stop it from happening?
We have to see it coming.
Notice the patterns.
We must be wary of those meant to bring us harm in life or in business (or gasp BOTH!)
AKA THE FALSE HERO - someone with ill intentions and a captivating disguise
be wary of the false hero 🦸🏻♀️
1️⃣ THE PROBLEM 🧐
shady intentions come in pretty packages
And the packages vary, so they can be hard to spot.
the marketing solution that will “10x your leads” with no clear strategy
a business collaborator with great energy (to hide a lack of interesting ideas)
that fitness creator who has been 90 lbs since tweenhood offering fat loss tips
any car salesman with a kind smile but no investment in his community
Pretty, compelling packages filled with kind words and ill intentions 👀

he’s right, don’t let this distract you!!
2️⃣ A REALIZATION 🧠
these packages appeal to your needs
When someone comes into your life — or business — with bad intentions, they often present themselves as your new support system.
They offer you something you NEED (or at least that’s what it sounds like at first)
Those examples last section? Oh those happened to me.
paid thousands for marketing that brought me ZERO new leads and bad contract advice
worked with a perky but unhelpful business partner until her true colors came to light (and she ran off with $30k of my contracts and a hefty sum of stolen work)
took advice from someone who needed a therapist for her eating disorder more than I needed her fitness advice
bought a car way above market rate under considerable pressure
what did each situation have in common (other than me 🫣)
a fake promise to help me with a problem or need
pretty, distracting packaging with their language or shared assets
neglect or harm from the start

how the liars look now that we know their game
3️⃣ A SOLUTION ✨
trust your gut 💪
& RUN from “too good to be true” when it requires little effort from you
All solutions to your problems require at LEAST some level of return
When you’re making a decision on what to purchase for your business, how to treat your body, or searching for the best approach to any problem, consider—
how long have you been aware of this “solution”?
do you have proof that it worked for anyone else you trust?
is there any way to fact-check the claims of this perceived hero?
have you done enough research to be confident in your decision?
ARE YOU GETTING DISTRACTED by things that don’t matter?
could you just do this without help and get the same outcome??
You know what feels real and what doesn’t. Allow yourself to sit with that.
Nobody is coming to save you and solve all your problems on the sheer tenant that you exist.
4️⃣ NUANCE, my bestie ✨
heroes can solve problems
typically you find them, not the other way around
when they find you be grateful, just be careful
You will continue to have problems no matter how many you solve, so get used to consistent effort.
Until next week,
check if you have food in your teeth BEFORE the zoom call
listening is free 😏
in case nobody has told you lately, I love ya 🤍

your business Mom
